SRP bookmarks by gina sekelsky studioI'm so happy to share the prize for this year's Summer Reading Program with you:  five handwritten bookmarks with quotations about books & reading (and one that's really more about gardening).  Here's the scoop: The Details Read any five books this summer and write a short paragraph review of each (a few sentences will do it).  Your books can be fiction or non-fiction.  (I even count cookbooks!) The Deadline Send me your list via email August 15-31st:  gina {at} ginasekelsky {dot} com.  Be sure to include your snail mail address. The Prize Everyone who sends a book list (complete with mini-reviews) will receive 5 quotation bookmarks, handwritten by me.  One prize per reader, please.  I will also compile all the book reviews and send to everyone who participates.  I can't wait to see what you've been reading!

what if I have more than 5? I just looked back at my summer reading and was surprised at how much I did read over these three and a half months or so.
will you be overwhelmed and go crazy if I send mini-reviews of them all?

Go for it, Amelia! I always love to see what you’ve been reading. I’m still on the hunt for Einstein’s Dreams, which you mentioned earlier this summer.

So glad you did this. I can’t wait to see the final list and get some great book recommendations. Plus, handwritten bookmarks from you—woo hoo!

It is SO fun reading the lists. Can’t wait to share them with all my Summer Readers. (And can’t remember if I mentioned, but my son and I are really enjoying The False Prince!)

  5. Thanks for posting this up! It was a huge help, especially since there’s not a ton of info on libavfilter out there, and especially not from an OS X standpoint.

Gina, thank you so much for the lovely bookmarks, they really are wonderful. I love the Roald Dahl poem that you have quoted from – I often think I should have it on the wall somewhere, it chimes so exactly with how I feel. I mentioned you on my bog yesterday. Thank you again for doing this lovely programme. I will use the bookmarks all the time I know – I have a little place for putting them, where we can take one any time we need one.

Have you seen the poem books by Calef Brown? You might enjoy the poem “Television Taxicab” — my kids and I like to quote that one. It’s silly and thoughtful, just like Roald Dahl. (Let me know if you can’t find at your library and I could send to you.) And love your idea of keeping the bookmarks in one spot. My daughter used to have an envelope taped to her bedroom door for bookmarks but it disappeared awhile ago. We need to get that back!
