stitching by gina sekelsky studio I'm looking forward to welcoming you into my studio every month in 2016! I often feel like I'm working in a vacuum; connecting with my neighbors, sure, hearing people come & go from my perch over the main entrance...but I want to change the energy right here inside my studio in 2016. That means opening the door and giving you all a reason to come visit me. First up is the We Make It Here Mixer, sponsored by the Creative Enterprise Zone. Each month this year, the CEZ is featuring one enterprise from the neighborhood, and the group of textile artisans in my building are first up. Did you know that inside the Midway Commercial Building (aka, The Triangle Building) I am part of a community of textile artists and entrepreneurs, fashion designers and costume designers? My neighbors create costumes for theater, dance and fantastical events (think Comic-Con, Steampunk gatherings and the Renaissance Festival), as well as design couture. We're learning, teaching and sharing our knowledge, and trying not to spend all our time fan-girling each other. Together, we’re making the Midway Commercial Building a hotspot for art, innovation and creativity in the textile arts. Join us Thursday evening, January 28th, from 5-8pm for open studios, make & takes, sample sales, and of course, a little nosh. 2500 University Avenue West, Saint Paul. valentine love you by gina sekelsky 02 And in February I'm loading up my work table with paper, envelopes, quotes, markers, and glitter for a Make-Your-Own Valentine Event. In about the time you could run to Target and pick up the same cards as everyone else, you can make your very own, one-of-a-kind valentines here at the studio. (And sip some hot cider.... I don't think they give that away while you're shopping at Target.) February 2nd, 6:30-8pm at the Lettergirl studio $15/person, kids welcome (best for ages 10 & up) RSVP via email (hello@ginasekelsky.com) or on Facebook
